What does it mean to be a salon and spa for sensitive people?

The way we see it, there are many ways to be a sensitive person and many ways to need care. Some people are sensitive to sound, some to fragrance, some to touch, some to conversation, some to energy. Others are seeking size inclusive salons, wheelchair accessible spaces, or truly fragrance free services. We try to make room for as many of those needs as possible.

At Sparrow, we offer one on one care across all of our services, including haircuts, hair color, brow and lash services, waxing, facials, and massage. We do not use assistants, because we believe the client experience is better when your provider is fully present with you from start to finish. We offer silent appointments and have private session options, supporting clients who prefer low stimulation, nervous system regulation, or a calmer salon experience.

We think carefully about bodies and accessibility. Our salon and spa is fully wheelchair accessible, and all of our chairs and treatment tables are selected with size inclusivity and comfort in mind. Our massage and facial tables lower electrically to provide additional assistance where needed, making our space accessible to a wider range of bodies and mobility needs. Comfort, dignity, and ease are part of the service, not an afterthought.

We are equally intentional about the products we use. Every styling product in our space is 100 percent synthetic fragrance free. This includes the products used for haircuts, brow and lash services, waxing, facials, and massage. Please research our hair color line, Oway, to see if their approach to fragrance fits your needs. We choose formulations that support sensitive skin, hormonal balance, and nervous system health, and we avoid anything unnecessary or overwhelming.

This is something that’s never acknowledged by salons, but we’ve intentionally designed a spacious, comfortable break room for our team so they can rest, recharge, and take care of themselves. When our staff feels supported and energized, they can give you the best possible experience. Thoughtful spaces for us, mean better care for you.

Sustainability shows up for us in practical, ongoing choices. We actively minimize plastic wherever possible in an industry that produces a great deal of waste. Many of our products are packaged in glass, including our color developer, and we continually reassess how to reduce our environmental impact without compromising quality or care.

We developed our own professional haircare line because we believe we don’t have to just take what our industry hands to us.
